The Hotel Medinaceli is a stylish hotel housed within the former palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli. This elegant five-storey historic building is located beside the Port of Barcelona, just a short walk from the famous La Rambla.
The hotel is a popular choice for visitors who appreciate its historic character while enjoying easy access to Barcelona’s main tourist attractions. Surrounded by numerous restaurants, cafés, and bars, the area offers a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day and into the evening.
The Challenge
The Hotel Medinaceli recently underwent a major renovation and expansion, combining modern luxury with the elegance of its historic architecture. Guests can now enjoy spacious, contemporary rooms featuring floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the heart of Barcelona.
While these improvements enhanced the guest experience, triple-glazed windows and thick stone walls blocked mobile signals from entering the building. As a result, guests experienced dropped calls, slow mobile data speeds, and unreliable 4G/5G connectivity, making it difficult to stream videos, use messaging apps, and post images on Instagram.
The objective

Booking.com and TripAdvisor feature thousands of guest reviews, which play a significant role in influencing future bookings. Providing reliable indoor mobile coverage has therefore become an essential part of delivering a premium guest experience.
Following numerous complaints regarding poor mobile signal throughout the hotel, the management decided to take immediate action and contacted Wireless LAN for a professional indoor mobile coverage solution.

The Solution

The Titan iR6 repeater was installed within a secure communications rack located in the hotel’s service area. From this location, coaxial cabling distributed the amplified mobile signal to strategically positioned indoor antennas throughout the building.
The iR6-T system amplifies the mobile signal for all operators across all services – 5G,4G,3G,2G. Additionally, the iR6-T can be remotely monitored by both Wireless LAN’s installers and the Stella team, enabling timely diagnostics and troubleshooting.
The Result
