The problem in Francis’s words..
“During summer I live in countryside and I need to use phone but mobile towers are quite far and the building has very big walls so I often have a poor signal. I live in a late 1800 building so the inside walls are 26 and 28 cm thick, and the external 67 cm, made by huge stones and tufa. Outside at ground floor I have 3 bars on mobile and indoor, where we have 4 rooms, it is from no bar to 3 bars. At first floor, where there are 3 rooms, I have 4 bars. On the terrace changeable 5 bars.”

Solution
For this installation, the customer needed to amplify the GSM voice signal only. Due to the weak external signal and very thick internal walls and concrete vaulted ceilings, the standard GSM repeater SD-RP1000G was used with SD400 cable and an external high gain Yagi antenna.
The customer had previously tried a Chinese repeater with very poor results where the calls were dropping and only one person could talk at a time.
The high gain external Yagi antenna and SD 400 cable ensured that the Stella Doradus Repeater received a good signal and could do a very good quality amplification. The Repeater received a signal level of 5 LED’s. This is a good signal and the result was that the downstairs of the house received full coverage and some of the upstairs rooms also received coverage.
Result
The customers received full duplex voice communication with perfect voice quality.
In Francis’s word..
“The repeater had 6 signal strength LED’s which lit up as I pointed the external antenna in the direction of my operator just rotating the antenna and using the same repeater as a signal finder, so I mounted it on the tv antenna pole. I got the full 6 LED’s which was great – a very strong signal. I got 5 bars on my phone too and could travel around the house, using my phone. I didn’t have to think about the repeater any more. My phone calls just behaves as if I am in a very good signal area. When I look at the repeater on the wall, there is a blue LED that lights up when I make a call which is re-assuring that everything is working correctly.”
