Johns’s house is located in a rural area in Spain where there was no mobile signal in his house or yard.
However, a large tower was located nearby and there was a weak external signal on the top of this tower.
Voice and 3G signal was required inside the house and in the courtyard outside.
The receive antenna was installed high up on the tower, pointing to the operators mast. The second image below is taken from the tower towards the hills in the distance where the mobile operators mast is located.
The repeater was put in an outdoor enclosure and connected to the receive antenna with 2 meters of low loss cable(SD400).
The SD400 cable reduced cable losses along this 2 meter run and ensured that the repeater received the best possible signal.
A second Yagi antenna with a 70 deg beam-width was positioned at the other side of the tower, cabled up to the repeater via a 15 meter low loss cable.
This antenna pointed to the house and courtyard.
The courtyard and all rooms in the house received full signal.
The furthest rooms of the house were at a 45 degree angle to the external antenna and 4 signal bars of coverage was achieved.
In total, full signal for voice at 900Mhz and 3G data at 2100Mhz was achieved in the whole house ( 18 rooms) and all of the courtyard
This was helped by the house having single glazed windows.
